“Now What?” pt. 2

Welcome back to the “I want to buy a house, now what?” series! In our last article, we went over the importance of speaking to and selecting a lender as your very first step in the home-buying process. If you have not yet already, go back and read part one before continuing on. All caught up? FANtastic! Lets dive in to step 2 in the “now what” basics!

2. Create a wishlist

Now that you have your finances in order, it’s now time to get to the fun stuff–what you WANT! If you are purchasing alone this part is easy, if you are purchasing with someone else this is where all of you will get on the same page to avoid any conflict down the road. Discuss the following together, out loud, and write down what you decide on for the following:

  • Why are you buying a home?
  • The ideal home you’re looking for (colonial, rancher, twin/row, etc.)
  • Top 6 must-haves ranked in order from most to least important
  • Neighborhoods of interest, also ranked in order

It is easy to lose time in the house-hunting journey by not listening to each others’ wants and needs. In our initial meetings we will provide you with a buyers packet which includes a worksheet that serves as a great tool to cover all of these topics in a very simple yet productive way. Additionally, be sure to tell us, your realtor, if anyone else will have an impact on your decision making throughout the process. We want to make sure that as decisions are being made we are getting the approval of all parties involved to prevent any potential for disagreements or backpedaling. We’re in the business of moving UP, not back!

Check back next time with our final step in the “now what” basics. Until then, here’s your friendly reminder that #KellySellsPA and #januskygetsitdone.
